My name is Andrew Hibbard. I grew up in Buffalo my entire life. Amherst, actually --- right behind Brunner’s Tavern (which most people seem to know quite well). I was heavily involved with Boy Scout Troop 261 and faithfully attended religious education, right across the street from my house, at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Parish.
If I’m being honest, my 5th grade career worksheet did NOT say: “Be In The Medicare Field” on it. I really just wanted to be a fire fighter like my grandpa was, on Ladder 4, with the Buffalo Fire Department.
Turns out, you have to live inside the Buffalo City Limits to take the entrance exam, and I didn’t, so instead I joined the Eggertsville Hose Company as a volunteer fire fighter and ended up earning my master’s degree in Education from Canisius College.
Funny thing is, I decided not to teach, and instead, go work for Disney Cruise Line to open the “Youth Activities” Department onboard the Disney Dream --- which is where I met my now wife, Lyndsey, (who was recruited as a featured Theatre Singer/Dancer in the onboard Broadway shows) and go figure, she also happened to be from Buffalo (Lancaster).
What’s really interesting is how she attempted to ignore my courtship, but I had an unfair advantage --- there’s really nowhere to avoid someone when you live on a ship in the middle of the ocean. I guess it must have been fate, right?
But I was only with Disney Cruise Line for a short while and felt I was lacking a service component to my life. Moving back to Buffalo afforded me the opportunity to enlist with the United States Air Force Fire Department up at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
If you are wondering how I went from Disney, to the Air Force…all the way to “The Wonderful World of Medicare” …the story is tragic and was really just me trying to do the right thing, for the right reasons, when my own family was struggling.
There are a lot of background details I am going to skip over that are only significant to me but will be insignificant to you. What’s important for you to know is simply the sad fact that people close to me were making very costly mistakes with their Medicare decisions because they were relying on bad and biased advice directly from Insurance Company employees. This situation led to less than desirable results and many of these people were forced to pay lifetime penalties for wrong assumptions by being mis-led, mis-informed, and mis-guided.
Because of this, I decided to get a job with, at the time, the largest health insurance company in the country (on the Fortune 100 list and you would know by name if you heard it). I had ambitions of waging war against this massive mis-information campaign and launching my own personal crusade to educate anyone who would listen.
As I began my consulting career, the training I had received from the Department Of Defense Fire Academy quickly proved to give me unique perspective on what everyone else dismissed as seemingly insignificant information.
You see, on the fire scene, there are specific conditions to watch for, which will give you information on what to do next and why. As the dots are connected, you can use the information observed and collected to make better informed decisions --- many times avoiding making a minuscule misjudgment or sometimes a massive mistake.
I found I could use the same logic and successfully apply it toward Medicare planning. In fact, there was insider information I was learning for the company trainings that we were NOT ALLOWED to share with the public. Hidden things that most people are never told. Facts the Federal Government and the Insurance Companies themselves don’t want you to know. Facts they like to keep quiet. Facts they want to be kept secret.
Well, my wife Lyndsey talked some sense into me, stressing the importance that if I truly wanted to serve the community, I needed to share the valuable insight I had carefully catalogues free from any Insurance Company regulation or restrictions.
While it did take some time and some strategic planning, we founded Medicare Management of WNY in 2015, out of our first house in Amherst (just 917 sq ft).
Since that very day, I have no obligation to my previous employer and can freely share the crucial and critical, even controversial, insider information once forbidden to be revealed.
You can imagine the impact we have been having throughout the WNY community, but we prefer to keep our private Medicare planning services in the shadows like a stealth secret being passed amongst only the closest of friends.
Now, while the world continues to transition to rely more on computers, we continue to do things the “old-fashioned way” …through face-to-face conversation with a real, live person.
We believe that we can put the human relationship back in where the modern world has removed and replaced it with robots.
We believe traditional, conservative values are important and are the foundation of our Veteran-Owned, Family-Run Small Business...
We believe Medicare is confusing, so we offer FREE help, but with limited availability...
We believe that to be of service, we should do MORE for less people...
